Kumamoto, Japan - March/April 2006 Gallery

It was a sunny weekend with lots of activities on so I took the chance to test out my new Canon Powershot S2 IS digital camera. The camera's 12x optical zoom is a massive improvement over what I have been used to in the more compact digital cameras I have used. The camera is also very fast at focusing and shooting images and the end results are pretty impressive (as you can see from the bottom set of photographs).

In one afternoon we walked along the waterfront to checkout a dance festival, the Volvo Ocean Race and then headed up to the Westpac Stadium to watch New Zealand play the West Indies in a one-day cricket match. Emma and I have returned to London after a four day visit to Paris. I have not had time to write anything yet but in the meantime I have posted a few of the photographs we took whilst touring the famous (and not so famous) sites.

Still pictures are good but sometimes its hard to convey the actual feeling of a place. During our trip to Bath I made a few really quick (20 second) movies of a few places that are really useful in conveying a sense of what it was like. The three movies are of passing a nuclear power plant in the train, Bath's Abby and a very cold afternoon at Stonehenge. Click on the images below to play the movie.
